INTERNATIONAL VISITORS

The closest airport to this show is Portland, Oregon (PDX) The airport is just 5 miles from the host hotel and there is a free shuttle provided by the hotel (call from the phones in the baggage claim area) .

Portland has now only got 1 non-stop international flights from Europe - Delta/KLM from Amsterdam. There is also a non-stop from Tokyo on Delta/Northwest.
But do be careful as things change often and not all flights fly every day

Seattle is about a 3 hour drive north of the show site and at this time has a non stop flight on Lufthansa from Frankfurt and another from Paris on Air France.

The hotel is in Washington state, on the other side of the Columbia river from the airport (the river is the boundary between the states)

More information about where other nonstop flights come from to this airport - go to Portland Airport Website

Rental cars are comparatively cheap in the USA (they drive on the right side of the road) and it is normal for all cars to be automatic. All the major car rental companies have offices at the airport - Avis, Budget, Alamo, Enterprise and Hertz and then you can always use Hotwire.

For information about the area see the Portland Visitor Center, Mt St. Helens and the Columbia Gorge.

There is good shopping in the area, especially as Oregon is a Sales tax free state, which makes the bargains even better!

The hotel has free Wi-Fi, so you can stay in touch with the rest of the world. But don't forget that the US has 110volts and different plugs for electrical appliances.

CELL PHONES: Most other countries in the world use GSM technology, and most American carriers do not. However T-Mobile is a GSM carrier, and so if you can roam you can use this network.
