RAFFLES & AUCTIONS

CWBC Silent Auction  This event will be Monday and Tuesday, October 4 & 5. People will have an opportunity to bid on desired items by writing their name on a bidding paper placed next to the item. Silent auction items may be individual pieces or a variety of pieces collected in a basket or other container. Items will sell for any where from $10 to several hundred dollars, depending on high the bidding goes. Each item will have a minimum bid posted.
Proceeds from the CWBC Silent Auction will be attributed to CWBC's specialty expenses.

NBC Raffle The raffle will be on-going during the National specialty, starting on Wednesday, October 6 and concluding about noon on Friday, October 8. People will buy tickets that they can put in bags that correspond to the various items being raffled. At a designated time on Friday, the raffle coordinator will have tickets drawn from the bags and matched with the buyer holding the other half of the ticket. While there will be some big ticket items on the raffle table, most raffle items will be valued at under $50.
All money raised in the NBC Raffle will go towards defraying expenses for the National Specialty.

State/Country Baskets  Running concurrently with the NBC raffle, the state basket silent auction will feature baskets or other containers that have been created to reflect the state/country of their contributors. Beagle enthusiasts from each area work together to collect items, allowing many people to donate small items that add up to one big value. But individuals can also donate a basket. It works best if each state has a volunteer who coordinates the collection of items and packages them in the basket.

We are going to try something new this year and auction a few baskets each day of the Nationals rather than have bidding over 3 days with everyone taking them home the last day. We also would like to have smaller baskets than in the past to make it easier for people to transport them home, and to allow more participation. So instead of a huge basket that people would bid $150-200 for, we would rather have two or three baskets that people might bid $50-$100 for. Since we will be doing an auction each day, we can have 2 or 3 baskets from the same state.

We want to make it as easy as possible for people to create their state baskets. We will have a variety of containers, cellophane, ribbon, etc., so state coordinators can bring the items for their state basket and actually assemble them at the show site. State coordinators can also ship things to Jeannie who will then bring them to the show site for assembly.
Items need not be breed or even dog oriented. Baskets will be on display with bidding sheets and time of auction, and baskets will be auctioned off at various times during the specialty.

BRFOA (Beagle Rescue Foundation of America) Auction  Traditionally the National Beagle Club Specialty hosts a dinner and auction to benefit BRFOA. This year the BRFOA event will be Thursday, October 7. BRFOA is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing funds, mostly for spaying and neutering, to various Beagle Rescue organizations throughout the United States. Contributions to the BRFOA auction may be tax deductible. Some of the items are in a silent auction and some are offered in a live auction. Items in this event have a wide range of value from under $20 to several hundred dollars.
